Following the Government’s announcement in January to progress light rail from the City Centre to Māngere, the project team has started talking to industry about the upcoming tender of professional services to carry out the work.
Sessions with industry representatives on 4 and 11 March brought together specialists in engineering and planning to talk about how we can deliver in the pre-construction phase.
This marks the beginning of robust industry engagement this year, reaching out to both the domestic and global market for experience and expertise in large infrastructure projects.
We are working closely with the Additional Waitemata Harbour Connections project to further develop integration between the city shaping projects, and the team also joined in the sessions.
In the coming months, we will scope the work for the Detailed Business Case, including the consenting and property strategies and the procurement programme.
Alongside this work, we are continuing to raise awareness of the project and opportunities across the wider industry. This includes upcoming briefings with Infrastructure New Zealand, New Zealand Planning Institute, Civil Contractors New Zealand and the Property Council New Zealand.
